The holidays may be a time to take a break from school, but they’re prime time to apply for scholarships! We recently shared Part 1 of our December roundup, featuring scholarships for future nurses, teachers, chefs and public servants—and in today’s Part 2, we look at awards for students in Georgia, Massachusetts, North Carolina and Missouri, plus two unique programs for families who have dealt with childhood cancer.

James L. and Nellie M. Westlake Scholarship
For more than 40 years, the James L. and Nellie M. Westlake Scholarship Foundation has been helping high school and community college students in Missouri turn their dreams of a bachelor’s degree into realities—and applications are now open for the 2024 class of Westlake Scholars.
Recipients of this prestigious and generous award earn renewable scholarships covering the full cost of tuition, plus a stipend for books, supplies and other expenses. Up to 50 Westlake Scholarships will be awarded — if you’re a high school senior or a community college student in Missouri, don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity!
To be eligible, you must be a Missouri resident, and either a graduating high school senior OR a student at a Missouri community college. High school seniors must be planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study for the entire upcoming academic year at an accredited four-year college or university. Community college students must have completed one or two full years, with sufficient credits to transfer to an accredited four-year college or university at the sophomore or junior level, respectively.
Applicants must also demonstrate financial need, including a family adjusted gross income (AGI) of $60,000 or less and an expected family contribution toward college (EFC) of $7,000 or less.
Academically, high school seniors must have at least a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale; community college applicants with one year transferable credits must have 2.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
If you meet the guidelines and earn the Westlake Scholarship, you can also renew your award for multiple years. For high school seniors, the award is renewable up to three years; for students transferring from two-year institutions, the award is renewable up to one additional year.

Northwestern Mutual Childhood Cancer Survivor Scholarship
Northwestern Mutual Childhood Cancer Sibling Scholarship
The Northwestern Mutual Childhood Cancer Survivor Scholarship program helps cancer survivors, age 25 and under, as they continue their education and pursue their college dreams. To date, Northwestern Mutual has has supported more than 210 scholars and contributed nearly $1.5 million to students on their college journeys.
“Childhood cancer robs children and their families of far too much, and that should not include the opportunity to pursue their dreams of a college degree,” said Steve Radke, president of the Northwestern Mutual Foundation. “We are proud to help these families start the next chapter of their lives, as well as recognize and honor the challenges siblings endure.”
The scholarship program will award renewable $5,000 scholarships to as many as 25 eligible recipients for the 2024-25 school year. High school seniors, high school graduates and current college undergrads can apply, as long as you plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study next year (at a two-year college, four-year college or university or accredited trade/technical school in the United States.) Applicants must be survivors of cancer, 25 years old or younger, have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and demonstrate financial need.

Childhood cancer doesn’t just affect the patient. The impact is life-altering for everyone in the family – especially brothers and sisters who are in school or away at college.
The Northwestern Mutual Childhood Cancer Sibling Scholarship program was established to help those who’ve had a sibling go through pediatric cancer. If you’re the brother or sister of someone who is in treatment, who has survived or who passed away from childhood cancer, you’re eligible to apply for one of 25 renewable $5,000 scholarships.
As with the Northwestern Mutual Childhood Cancer Survivor Scholarship, applicants can be high school seniors, high school graduates or current college students in the United States. You must be 25 years old or younger, have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and demonstrate financial need – and you must plan to attend full-time undergraduate study in the U.S. during the next school year.
Both of these programs require applicants to prepare a statement about how cancer has affected their lives and taught them courage and resilience. We encourage you to spend some time with friends and family, talking about your story and thinking about ways you can work toward a bright future!

ScottMadden Inspire Scholarship
ScottMadden, one of North America’s leading management consulting firms specializing in energy and shared services, is once again proud to offer the renewable $10,000 ScottMadden Inspire Scholarship. This scholarship is designed to support the college dreams of Black or African American students in ScottMadden’s home states of Georgia, Massachusetts and North Carolina.
