Studying Abroad in Cagliari: Emma’s Life-Changing Semester in Sardinia

Some study abroad experiences start as a dream. Others start as a leap of faith. For Emma, it was both.

Back in 2018, she took her very first step into international student life when she travelled to the Gold Coast in Australia. That semester abroad changed everything: the friendships, the freedom, the lifestyle, and she knew instantly she would study abroad again one day.

Seven years passed. She studied in Sweden, moved to Gothenburg, built a life with her partner, and settled into a routine she loved. But when an unexpected job loss occurred in June, she saw something different: not a setback, but an opportunity. A door opening.

Today, Emma is writing from a sunny café in central Cagliari, Sardinia, 23°C, lemon soda in hand, and a whole new life unfolding around her.

Life as a Student in Cagliari

At the University of Cagliari, Emma is studying Public Management, Politics & Communication, Macroeconomics, and Marketing. Her schedule is exactly what many dream of: short days, 90-minute classes, and every Friday off. And the professors? Engaging, supportive, and importantly, great English speakers.

The campus is located right in the heart of Cagliari, and students live throughout the city. Housing is easy to find, and the community around Erasmus and international students makes settling in way easier.

But of course, life in Sardinia isn’t just about lectures.

Aperitivo, Surf, and the Sweet Life in Sardinia

So what does a typical week look like for Emma?

Aperol spritz after class. Fresh pizzetta for lunch.
Beach days, surf sessions, and crystal-blue coastlines on the weekends.
Local flavors, new friends from across Europe, and the kind of nights out you never forget.

Life in Cagliari is warm, social, and full of small joys, the kind that remind you why studying abroad is so life-changing.

Emma’s Advice to Anyone Considering Studying Abroad

“If you’ve ever even thought about studying or living abroad – do it.”
For Emma, returning to international studies has been one of the best decisions she’s ever made.

The friends.
The experiences.
The personal growth.

All of it has shaped who she is today, and all of it began with saying “yes” to an opportunity.

Her biggest tip? Book a free meeting and see what’s possible for you. You might be surprised by how many doors open once you ask.

A Final Word from Emma

If you’re curious about her journey, or what it’s really like to live and study abroad in Italy, she’s happy to share more. Sometimes hearing from a student who has lived it makes all the difference.
