I’m excited to share that Coursera is launching the first learning agent built for Microsoft 365 Copilot on the OpenAI Apps SDK. Users can now access trusted learning on Coursera within the tools they already use — bringing learning directly into the flow of work.
This launch arrives as leaders rank AI-specific skilling as their top workforce priority in Microsoft’s latest Work Trend Index. With agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot supporting open standards like Apps SDK and MCP Apps, apps like Coursera can now surface directly within chat, where employees can develop critical skills and learn about new technologies like AI, directly alongside the tasks they’re working on — enabling training to more directly support on-the-job performance.
For example, if employees need guidance while building a complex Microsoft Excel model, Microsoft 365 Copilot can surface relevant content from leading university and industry partners on Coursera — helping them build expertise as they execute.

To access the Coursera learning agent on Microsoft 365 Copilot:
- First, connect the Coursera learning agent, which is currently available to organizations with enterprise licenses to both Coursera and Microsoft 365 Copilot.
- Start a chat with the agent by saying “@Coursera” in the main chat window. Then ask any learning-related question, such as:
- “Coursera, help me learn how to implement an agentic workflow to automate our customer support routing.”
- “Coursera, show me how to orchestrate a multi-agent system so I can build a security audit workflow.”
- “Coursera, I’m preparing for a high-stakes vendor renewal. Give me a quick tutorial on principled negotiation tactics.”
- The agent will surface relevant videos from courses on Coursera, all directly within Microsoft 365 Copilot.
- Alternatively, you can start a chat with the Coursera learning agent from the side navigation.
“We are pleased to bring Coursera’s interactive learning experience into Microsoft 365 Copilot for users worldwide,” said Bryan Goode, CVP of Business Applications and Agents at Microsoft. “Learning works best when it is part of how work gets done. By enabling Coursera to appear in a rich, interactive format directly in chat, people can learn in context, without switching tools or breaking their flow. This makes learning a natural part of everyday work.”
To optimize AI productivity gains, organizations must deploy AI tools and training in tandem. Embedding trusted learning from Coursera into Microsoft 365 Copilot makes skill development a core part of AI adoption.
In the AI era, learning and work are becoming inseparable, and together, they fuel productivity. As AI tools continue to evolve, organizations that strengthen human capability alongside technological innovation will unlock greater impact.
We’re honored to be one of the first agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot enabled by Apps SDK and are excited to shape the future of learning at work.
