At edX, we believe that education has the power to change individuals and that individuals have the power to change the world. Yet, access to high-quality education—and in some cases, access to any education at all—has been a privilege of the few. That’s why we are launching the Access for All scholarship campaign to drastically increase the number of learners edX can help gain access to life changing education.

Requests for financial assistance went up exponentially over the past year, with the biggest spike at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. And because we want to help learners like you even more, we’ve set an ambitious goal raising $10M for the scholarship campaign over the next three years.

This scholarship campaign will radically increase the number of people who can gain access to the knowledge, skills, and financial mobility needed to propel their lives, their communities, and the world forward. Our research shows that financial assistance also increases the likelihood of completing and earning a certificate and that these certificates provide learners with positive career changing outcomes. We will feel the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy and higher education reverberate for years to come, and this scholarship campaign will be instrumental in empowering learners everywhere to reach their full potential and change the world. Our effort is representative of our sustained effort and leadership towards achieving our mission.

The first scholarship in our Access for All campaign is the Macquarie Group Scholarship. This $1M scholarship program is to support low-income and underrepresented groups of learners in the following countries that have been negatively impacted by COVID-19: the United States, Australia, India, and the United Kingdom.

We’ve already seen over 15,000 learners interested in this scholarship in the first 24 hours of launch and we look forward to announcing more named scholarships in the near future. Find out if you qualify and apply today.
